the first two songs in myspace are from the new album
only 2 songs have a gothic touch, gothic keys/synths mostly, and they are not on myspace
they even have a kinda "operatic" interlude of Swan Lake in the album Mr. Green
not the kind of song you would get from a band of this genre Razz

Btw, I can tell you with certanty and with risking my loyalty to the band (The Gathering) that people who loved Anneke and their music around How to mesure a planet will totally like The West Pole

If this is true, it's very good news to my ears.

As regards The Gathering not wanting to play among "goth bands": Didn't Lacuna Coil say something similar after they had played the festival a few years ago? Seems some people have a somewhat weird perception of this festival. Too bad that my hopes to get to see another band I'm actually interested in (in addition to Midnattsol) have now been destroyed.

I really appreciate Markize who played last year and this would be great if this group replaying this year Okay Moreover, few people were present during their visit because of congestion, then that would be great to see their full show Smile

It'll be amazing to see Within Temptation or Evanescence play at the MFVF Shocked

i'm almost 99% sure that headliner will be Epica
the bands list seems cool!!!!!!!!!Tristania, the agonist, to-mera, trail of tears are great!! I'm not fond of sirenia, van canto and lahannya, I'd prefer a rock band like dejafuse and an opera one like DSO, or some truly groovy bands like Akphaezya or Animal Alpha

looking good Okay

oooh and also Darzamat or Draconian

Nightwish isn't so appreciated now without Tarja, even if they still have a strong fan base. I mean when they perform live.
Some disliked Tarja, but some dislike Annette.
Annette is a good singer, but not for the old songs. Her voice is more pop.

Mmm, I like Annette, I think she's got a great voice and a great personality, but I wouldn't want to see Nightwish live for that reason, the old songs just don't sound right, Annette and Tarja are so different. Maybe in the future, when there is more material written for Annette Smile

People that like Nightwish now more than before, are all newbies and listeners of popular tv-music programs (like tmf and mtv). I liked Nightwish with Tarja, so Annette was a huge disappointment live (saw them in Lotto Arena). She rapes the old songs! Shocked In the past I wuldn't have doubted to go to their coming concert in Vorst/Forest National, but now, no way, I saw Anette live once and that was it for me (really a shame since the rest of te band is still great, but I simply get irritated with some old songs, so better to stay home then).
...And then they said Tarja was the one after the money and the commercial one, look at them now, single after single and even a dvd soon all of their 1 new cd...

And true, 2nd quota, maybe then Wink

The Gathering is wierd :p I'll see them on GMM anyway, I'll go take a look at that new singer and report here Very Happy

That seems like a really cool list! I'm loving Trail of Tears, To-Mera, Tristania, Sirenia, SoP, Delain and Lahannya Smile
I agree with Frozen-Me though, DSO, Darzamat and Draconian would make this year a dream come true!
I'm also still hoping for Theatre of Tragedy Embarassed

I would love to see any of those bands play the fest. I really hope Stream of Passion joins up. They have finished recording their album so maybe it will be out by October.

Would love Krypteria and Delain as not seen either. Trail of Tears, Sirenia and Stream of Passion I've all seen but happen to enjoy. To-Mera seem to have off days but can be ratehr good. Only band here I've never been impressed with that I know of is Tristania, who I think are a bit dull live Razz

Either way, confident about the general state of the bill - think this will be a highlight!
