If anyone lives in or close to California you might want to know that Tarja is playing at the House of Blues in Hollywood on May 8th. Maybe some of us going to MFVF 7 could meet up at this show?

Yeah, I'm still trying to work out logistics to attend this show. My main objective would actually be to attend two Opeth shows (May 15/16) and Paganfest (May 17). Just not sure I want to spend 11 days in California. Since I saw Tarja at MFVF last year, I may forgo it and just go to Opeth & Paganfest.

Still undecided.

That's cool. Maybe I will join at Opeth. I am supposed to go to Vegas that day but it may not work out.

Hello,

I am from Seattle and I am planning to attend MFVF 7. I flew down to LA for the Tarja concert on Friday night and I must say it was amazing! I have now seen Nightwish three times (only once with Tarja) and Tarja solo once. I had such a great time it has pushed me over the edge and made me decide to make the trip to Belgium. Also the chance for me to see Delain and Doro doing a Warlock set were big factors. I just recently discovered Delain and I can't stop listening to their two cd’s. I have been listening to Warlock songs forever. I have also been listening to songs from some of the other bands that are going to be there and so many of them sound great. Any advice for an American traveling to Belgium would be great. I do not speak anything but English so I was kind of curious if that would be an issue. I have been to London and Paris before, but never to Belgium. Most of the stuff I read online said that most young people in Belgium speak English, but a lot of the older people do not. Any other travel tips would be great. My plan right now is to leave for Brussels on Tue evening and get there on Wed morning. Then I can spend a couple days in Brussels before the show and check out the city and see the sights. Then I will move to a hotel in Aalst on Friday night and go to the shows Sat and Sun. Then I will fly back to the states on Monday. Any way I thought I would say Hi.

Dawg

What's up dawg! I too am traveling to Brussels from the USA to see the show. This is a great forum to get your questions answered. All the people here are really cool and have been very helpful to me. A bunch of people are staying at the Ibis hotel is Aalst so I would try and get a room there if you can.

Nice to see that there are more and more visitors from USA Smile

There is no problem for you to get info etc ... in English, as nearly all our staff speaks this language.
(French-English / Dutch-English etc ...)
This is something important as MFVF is an international festival.
In the center of Brussels, you shouldn't have any problems, as this is touristic.
Most of the Dutch people in Belgium speak English, but as you said old guys not so much.
Probably less in the other part of Belgium (Wallonia-French speaking).

I can suggest you to visit a Metal shop in the center : Hard Rock Market.
Owner is Anik, a famous woman due to her longevity with her store (t-shirts, clothes, jewels, and soon cd/dvd).

Thanks for the tip on a good metal shop to visit Smile

I plan on spending a day at least in Bruges and in Brussels, and definitely will be looking for any metal-friendly places to visit Smile

I am so happy! I got confirmation of my VIP Ticket today, and bought it online. Already got the ticket in my email as well. Being on the waiting list made me a little nervous, but it worked out in the end. I got my airline ticket and hotel in Brussels booked. Unfortunately the Ibis was already booked up on Saturday night, so I need to find another hotel is Aalst to stay in. Ibis said they would let me know if they got any cancellations. I am so looking forward to another trip to Europe and the chance to see Belgium for the first time.

I just checked again with the online booking for the Ibis-Aalst and they are full on Saturday and Sunday. Are there any other hotels close to the Ibis-Aalst? I have talked to a couple people from the USA that are going to the festival and they are all staying at Ibis. I would like to be close to there so I can meet them and hang out.

Does this mean that none of the bands will be staying at the ibis or that you need more rooms?
