As I'm a great Aztec, Maya, Inca and stuff Smile fanatic, I've always been wondering if there is any female metal (especially in Mexico and Peru, of course) with Precolumbian folk elements - either in music itself or in lyrical themes. I've already spent a lot of time searching for it, but still don't know anything of that kind. Could you please suggest anything for me?

Mexico rules, for sure, what would the extreme metal world be without Cenotaph ("The Gloomy Reflections Of Our Hidden Sorrows" is classic), Disgorge, The Chasm, Warfield, etc.

However, the only gothic band I know from that country is Anabantha.

Yeah, their gothic metal rules, too, as there are many more bands like this - Fortaleza, The Legion of Hetheria and so on! However, all that stuff is pretty much the same as in Europe Sad Great, but nothing special about the music.

Just read an interview with a female-fronted metal band from Lima, Peru called Yawarhiem whose music is based on Incan history and incorporates some traditional elements instruments. Sounds like they may play the kind of music you are looking for.
